Birth date and place/Family members:
On the morning of August 1st, 1995, at 10:15 AM, I was born at Mary Birch Hospital in San Diego where my family lives. I have a small, yet rather large family. I am the second child, first was my older sister, Jalissa, and we are the only children of my parents, John and Kelly Lewis. My sister and I are 7 years apart; I guess you could say I wasn't very much planned out.
We grew up in a wonderful home with our parents and two dogs. Most of my family lives in California which has been great growing up because having all of us together in one state has made us very close. Ever since I was younger I have always been closest to my mom and grandma.
Childhood:
Growing up having an older sister you learn a lot of things; a lot of things you should not do. Thanks to her mistakes, I learned what's allowed and what isn't. I was the good child who never got in trouble. When it came to school I blew through it. I was never told school is a priority and that it’s going to be a very important thing in my life, that all I needed to do was get a passing grade and I'll be fine. I attended Lemon Crest Elementary School, Tierra Del Sol Middle School, and from there, West Hills High School. Middle school was a breeze, but when it came to high school I struggled. My first two years weren't as good as my junior and senior year, when the word "college" was put into my mind by my teachers. I never thought college could be an option for me until then because none of my family members went to college, but I wanted to break that chain. I started to excel in everything I did from then on out. Although, towards the end of junior year I went through a rough patch. I lost my mom unexpectedly due to blood clots that were blocking important arteries. I missed 2 weeks of school since all I knew how to do then was cry and cry. When I finally went back I told myself that I have to do my best and put my heart into school and everything I do, for my mom.
Hobbies, interests, activities:
I was never into the team and "get dirty " kind of sports. When I was three my mom put me into dance. I loved it; I was born to dance. It took over my life. I was a dancer for 11 years and became the best one in the class. Dance made a big impact on my life and made me the person I am today. It took me out of my comfort zone and made me a well rounded person.
As I was getting older I thought dancing was lame and was getting bored of it. At the age of 13 I quit. My mom put the thought of being a cheerleader when I got into high school in my mind, so I thought I should get a head start and take tumbling classes. When high school came around I made the freshman team and it was the greatest experience. Since I had such a great time that year I thought I'd try out again and made the JV team. I only cheered for two years thinking I'd cheer throughout my high school career. Today I regret quitting dance.
Anecdote:
The end of my freshman year that’s when I met my boyfriend. When his senior year and my junior year came around he was getting ready to go off to college. When it comes to academics he is a star, but when it comes to organization and planning he isn't the brightest. So that's where I come in. I'm all about organization and helped him pick out all of his dorm essentials. When it comes to planning things out I love to take control.
Besides being an organized person, I am also very caring. One morning I was leaving my house to go to school and as I was pulling out of my driveway I saw a dog across the street roaming around the sidewalk without an owner. I turned my car off and got out. Walked out to the street, looked both ways to make sure no cars were coming, and called the dog over. I checked his collar, but no tags were in sight. There was a neighborhood across the street that he might have came from and I tried there first. I saw a house with a side gate and saw a few dogs in it, so I thought I should start there and luckily it was the dogs home. The owner was very thankful and glad to have his dog back.
Career:
I've always been into designing things, whether it came to designing my room, crafts, or baking. All throughout middle school I went back and forth on thoughts of what I wanted to do when I was older. In high school I still wasn't sure about what I was going to do when I graduate. Senior year I started watching this show that's on it second season called “Cake Boss“. As I started to watch it I became really into it and thought how cool it would be to be a baker. The more I watched it the more interested I became and wanting to know more about baking. After a while of thinking about it I finally came to conclusion that I want to pursue this by going to college and majoring in baking and pastry and become a pastry chef.
