One of many Coraline models and what is inside of them to make the figures bendable |
One night Coraline is woken up by mice running around her room. She follows them and led her to the room with the mysterious blocked door, but this time… it was open. The mice make their way through the door so Coraline follows. On the other end it was only her house, nothing different… so it seemed. She smells something really good coming from the kitchen. She finds her mom cooking. When she turns around Coraline is shocked because she notices this isn’t her mother. This “other mother” as she calls her self, has buttons for eyes.
In this parallel universe Coraline gets anything and everything she could ever ask for, but when it comes down to it, be careful what you wish for. The more Coraline hangs around the “other” world, the more her other parents want her to stay with them. Coraline doesn’t want to and would rather stay with her parents who don’t pay attention to her, so she plays a game with her other mother and if Coraline wins, she gets to be free from this strange world, but if she loses, her other mother gets to sew buttons in her eyes and she stays there.
I personally think this movie was very well put together and has a great story behind it. The one thing I see wrong with this film is it’s not quite appropriate for kids. For example, sewing buttons into a child’s eyes? And a few other details throughout the movie. If you have watched the film, what do you think?
I felt that there was not enough background information on the film. In addition, it would have been good to see some background on stop-animation and how the film was created. The summary was very clear and well detailed, but possibly too much detail. I did like the summary though! The analysis was good, but more examples would have made it better. There were a few grammatical errors, but over all, the flow and tone of the article were good.
ReplyDeleteGood job on this review! it had a really nice tone and it was easy to read. you kept me wanting to read more the whole time. Good job on links and pictures. the summary of the movie was really good and made me want to go se the movie. Maybe next time add a little bit more background information. but overall awesome job!!!
ReplyDeleteI felt your review was a short and sweet but you didn't have any background info on the crew, director or stop motion filming. your review on the movie was good tho. it flowed nicely. only thing is next time put some more background on the movie. nice picture and links tho!
ReplyDeleteI didn't feel like there was much background in the story. You focused too much on telling the story than actually talking about the movie. Also it sounded a little weird when I read the beginning. I like most of the pictures. They fit well except the first one because you didn't really explain about the dolls.
ReplyDeleteThank you for not beating around the bush Jailynn. Background got straight to the point about Coraline being a curious girl and discovering another world. Links and pics were great, maybe a little info on how the movie was made but owell. Your review was very clear, I got the message that young kids shouldn't be watching it. Grammar and punctuation seemed great, so good job!
